Narrow & Tides Map
Narrow & Tides Map
The Kyles of Bute form a slender tidal passage between the Isle of Bute and the Cowal peninsula, where saltwater channels narrow, bend and open again to the wider Firth. This meeting of land and sea is defined by movement: shifting light on sheltered water, wooded slopes falling steeply to the shore, and currents that turn quietly yet decisively with the tide.
- Layered green topographical landscape embellished with basket-weave stitch
- Dark blue tidal channels defining the inner and outer narrows
- Hand-printed fabric passages representing the shifting surface of the Kyles
- Freestyle machine-embroidered tidal currents tracing the flow between inlets
- Light blue fish forms dispersed through sheltered waters
- Tighnabruaich marked with a three-dimensional symbol
- Inchmarnock represented as a layered green fabric island set within deeper tidal blue
- Plywood seagulls
Encased in a 68cm X 28cm white painted wooden frame (4.5 cm deep), fitted with two durable cotton cords for secure wall display.
